Our Program

UHM SEED Academy at Kapolei High School is a high-quality, accredited high school program of the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa SEED Office and Kapolei High School. Our innovative school offers Oahu high school students the best of both worlds - the flexibility to take core courses online, and the opportunity to take STEM enrichment classes in science, technology, engineering and math on-campus at Kapolei High School.

Through UHM SEED Academy, students earn all the credits needed to get their high school diploma. They have the flexibility to work on core courses when and where they want, and they can take advantage of hands-on enrichment electives and extracurricular activities at the school. Whether plans after high school include attending college or starting a career, UHM SEED Academy at Kapolei High School provides the excellent curriculum, instruction, and teacher support to prepare you for success.


UHM SEED Academy at Kapolei High School Offers:

  • Free tuition for Oahu residents
  • Kapolei High School diploma upon graduation
  • An excellent education with a standard-based curriculum and instruction and support from highly qualified teachers and academic advisors
  • An online curriculum of media-rich courses in language arts, math, science, social studies and world languages, including Advanced Placement courses.
  • Choice of hands-on, project-based STEM electives in science, technology, engineering and math
  • Use of a laptop computer while enrolled in the program*
  • Participation in Kapolei High School clubs and activities**

Our program is ideal for:

  • Previously home-schooled students seeking an academically rigorous, accredited high school education,
  • Students seeking greater flexibility in their school schedule,
  • Students seeking STEM electives in science, technology, engineering and math that help prepare them for the 21st century workforce, and
  • Students looking for a high-quality alternative to their current school.

* A non-refundable computer insurance fee of $50 each is due at orientation. Note that we are currently negotiating with Oceanic Cable to offer high-speed internet to UHM SEED Academy students at a discounted rate of $29.95 per month vs. $44.95.

**Only students who live within the Kapolei district can join team sports.
